The beautiful Han River, a symbol of Seoul, is the site of fun-filled festivals throughout the year.

The Han River Festival and Flower Festival are held in spring, summer, fall, and winter,

and the Tip-tap! tip-tap! Festival, held on a car-free underwater bridge, is even bigger.

There is also the 'Book Reading Han River Park' where you can immerse yourself in reading with the Han River

as a folding screen, as well as history tours, a Han River Spacing Out contest,

and a paper airplane competition... There are a variety of programs.

Let's take a look at the festivals and cultural events that will take place along the Han River in 2023.

1. 'Han River Festival'

Spring-Summer-Autumn-Winter 'Han River Festival' - the culmination of the seasons! First up is the Han River Festival, where you can enjoy the four seasons of the Han River in a different way with programs that reflect the characteristics of each season. This year's festival is themed "The Han River, where all kinds of fun gather," and will be held on the water of the Han River and throughout the 11 Han River Parks. The family-friendly 'Hangang Festival - Spring (May 5 to May 7)' will be filled with performances and experience programs such as puppet shows and bubble shows that mothers, fathers, and children can enjoy together during the Family Month, and will transform Ttukseom Han River Park into a festive venue that is easily accessible to everyone.

During the 'Han River Festival-Summer (July 28-August 13)', the Han River will be transformed into an urban retreat. You can experience everything about the Han River in summer at the festival, including the Han River Exotic Boat Race, which uses recyclable materials to run on the river, the Han River Outdoor Movie Theater, which makes you forget the tropical nights, and various water leisure experience programs.

In addition to the deepening atmosphere and sunset, the 'Hangang Festival-Autumn (Oct. 13~Oct. 22)' will feature relaxation and healing programs such as the 'Hangang Slow Bike Competition,' a non-competitive race where cyclists ride at a safe speed, 'Sunset Healing Yoga,' and 'Sunset Concert,' which will allow you to relax and become part of the autumn landscape.

The 'Han River Festival-Winter (Dec. 1-Dec. 25)' is a festival centered around Ttukseom Han River Park, where you can feel the hopeful spirit of the holiday season. There will be an exhibition of light sculptures filled with emotions and Christmas season programs.

2. Tip-tap! tip-tap! Festival

Stroll across the submarine bridge every Sunday without a car! 'Submarine Bridge Tip-tap! tip-tap! Festival'

Permanent programs that attract visitors, such as a book-reading submarine bridge, submarine playground, flea market, food trucks, and street performances, as well as special programs for different seasons and periods, will provide new fun no matter when you visit.

3. The Han River Seorae Island Flower Festival

The Han River Seorae Island Flower Festival: A Feast of Flowers on Seorae Island. Seorae Island in Banpo Hangang Park, a hidden flower spot in Seoul, hosts a festival with beautiful seasonal flowers. The 'Han River Seorae Island Flower Festival' will be held in May, when rape blossoms are in full bloom, creating waves of yellow, and in October, when  buckwheat blossoms cover the island in white, creating a spectacular sight.

4. Hangang Exotic Festival

The 'Han River Spacing Out contest' will be held on May 21st, a breezy spring day, to give your brain a break while watching the flowing river.

On September 9, the 'Hangang Paper Airplane Festival' will be held with the world champion of paper airplane flying. The festival will consist of paper airplane flying, longest flying, and special competitions, as well as experiences, exhibitions, and performances on the theme of aviation science, making it a fun time for the whole family.
